W Network, CosmoTV, and VIVA Announce Better Make-Overs, More Sex, and Gweneth Paltrow
At summer's end, when the weather get's cooler, the leaves get crunchy, and being outside no longer has the same allure as it did in August, many women just want to snuggle into a pair of comfy sweats and hit the couch. Therefore, Corus Entertainment could not have picked a better time to launch their new programming line-up, which is fully fuelled by maximum star power, a few old favourites and new, exciting female-focused television that is sure to keep you couch-ridden longer than your trainer would recommend.
W Network, Cosmopolitan TV and VIVA have announced their updated offering of new and returning lifestyle series, tear jerking dramas, and heart-warming, giggle educing, popcorn perfect blockbuster movies.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (yes, Elaine) will be a part of W’s weeknight line-up with her show The New Adventures of Old Christine. Also, the launch of the Canadian makeover show Eat Yourself Sexy, which is hosted by famed nutritionist Gillian McKeith, will be added to the mix. The ratings are in and research has shown that W audiences happen to dig all-things-across-the-pond. Hey, accents are charming. Therefore U.K. lifestyle series How to Look Good Naked returns with season five and 10 Years Younger: The Challenge joins the schedule.
Who doesn't love sex? If you've raised your hand, you won't like CosmoTV. Since you probably didn't raise your hand (because really, who doesn't like sex?), prepare to be dazzled by their fall roster. The popular one-hour drama Lipstick Jungle; a second season of the stylist-to-the-stars series The Rachel Zoe Project; Season 3 of CosmoTV’s flagship magazine show Oh So Cosmo; and the 2nd annual CosmoTV Bachelor Search are in the house.
Finally, VIVA caters to the woman who, well, likes to cater. And if not cater, at least play in the kitchen on her spare time. VIVA will be happily serving up more food-focused programming in the daily VIVA Cuisine time block, featuring the original series Fearless in the Kitchen starring Canadian cooking sensation Christine Cushing, along with the Canadian premiere of Spain…on the Road Again featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and celebrity chef Mario Batali. Hungry yet?
“Each of our women’s networks speaks to a distinct audience while they all encompass three pillars of programming: lifestyle, scripted entertainment and movies,” said Joanna Webb, Vice President, Programming, Corus Women’s Specialty Television. “Whereas W continues to provide a respite for busy, time-starved women with relaxing romantic comedies and expert-driven series that offer inspirational tips for living, CosmoTV concentrates on serving up fun, guilty-pleasure programming, while VIVA’s lineup showcases smart, sophisticated, experiential programming tailored to the boomer woman."
Tune in this fall to get your fill of some of the best television that cable has to offer. Being a couch potato has never looked so good.
