Canadian Supermodel Coco Rocha joins Firefighters To Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer

On May 31st, Coco Rocha and 20 of her model friends, along with help from a few hot local firefighters, took to the fashion runway to benefit childhood cancer.
The first annual Runway for Ride Fashion show was held at the Roxx Nightclub in Barrie to raise money for the 2009 Sears National Kids Cancer Ride.
The models, provided courtesy of Elite Model Management wore clothing provided by Sears Canada. The event, inspired by Coco Rocha’s 11-year-old cousin Erika Campbell, was embraced by Coco who convinced her model friends from New York and Toronto to participate in the event.
“I wanted to get involved by doing what I do best,” Miss Rocha explained.
The 2009 Sears National Kids Cancer Ride will start its cross-Canada journey on June 13 in Vancouver, and end 12 days later in Halifax. National Riders (who will be riding the entire distance) will be joined by local cyclists who will ride for 10km or more, meeting with kids, medical professionals, and volunteers in cities and towns across the country. 100% of all individual donations raised will be distributed to national and local-level childhood cancer programs.

“Helping these kids and their families is the focus of our efforts,” said Jeff Rushton, Founder of the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation. “The donations raised improve the survival rates and quality of life for children fighting this horrible disease. At the same time, our events like the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride promote awareness, wellness and volunteerism among Canadians across the country.”
The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is managed and organized by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, a volunteer-based registered Canadian charitable foundation focused on improving health outcomes and the quality of life of children and families who are impacted by cancer. Over the past five years, close to $5 million has been raised through the various cycling events which the Foundation organizes.
