Hotel Quintessence: Reviving The Art of Hospitality

A Luxurious Laurentian Escape For All Seasons

altWhen it comes to travel, personal space - both physical and psychological - is my idea of the ultimate luxury. Real luxury is silence on demand, good beds and fine cotton bed linen. The true luxury hotel checklist: a vast room, vast bed and a vast bath. Hotel Quintessence, the jewel of the Tremblant tourism region, delivers on all three points and then some. This is a true luxury property, where the staff treat you with real care, not hollow gestures. I am unimpressed with meaningless frills at other "luxury" hotels - DVD libraries, designer overkill in the form of "cushion litter", chocolates on pillows. If a turn-down service means the chambermaid knocking on the door at 6 pm, when you're half-dressed, then it's not a luxury.

Hotel Quintessence is Tremblant’s premiere boutique hotel, offering ingenious luxury and service in the heart of the Laurentians. Inspired by austere European estates, Hotel Quintessence is an exclusive waterfront retreat featuring 30 elegant suites on picturesque Lake Tremblant. Managing Partner Sean O'Donnell masterfully revives a nearly extinct breed of hospitality at the Hotel Quintessence. Here, client care is an art form. Your wish, your whimsy. Quintessence combines the personal service and gracious living of a European manor house with the intimate ambiance of a five-star country lodge, and the modern technology of a world class hotel.

"Hotel Quintessence evolved because we believe it is essential to experience the quintessential things of life," says O'Donnell. "Our goal at 'Q' is to provide all the elements that will allow our guests to attain a lasting sense of well-being. Everything we do is guided by this philosophy." Whether guests choose serenity or excitement, camaraderie or privacy, relaxation or exhilaration, Hotel Quintessence provides the setting. "Our excellent staff is fundamental," says O'Donnell. "I think we can provide any service asked, from chartering a plane to arranging a classic 'English-style' pheasant shoot."

Every suite at this gorgeous hotel has a lake view, and in most cases, the bathroom features sliding doors that, when open, essentially puts the oval tub in the middle of the room next to the bed. Now that's extravagance. Your suite mate can lie on the bed while you're in the bath, and you muse lazily on the day's highlights over a buttery glass of Pino Grigio. What I love about these suites is that they're designed so you instinctively feel you can throw yourself around the room with abandon. This marks a special achievement in creating a that elusive residential feeling in a hotel property.

A year-round destination, Tremblant offers creative dining, shopping, and cultural events. The region is a natural playground offering cross-country skiing on miles of trails winding along magnificent countryside, snow shoeing, dog sledding, tubing and horse drawn sleigh rides to complete the “quintessential” winter experience. In the summer, guests can choose between five award-winning golf courses each within 5 minutes of Hotel Quintessence, a visit to the legendary Circuit Mont Tremblant race course, mountain and road biking, tennis, fly fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, mountain hiking, hydroplaning and horseback riding. In the fall, Tremblant is perhaps at its most stunning, when breathtaking autumn colours transform the landscape.

Larger than most standard suites, the 700 square feet Quintessence Suites are constitutionally spacious. We love the 100% Berber-wool carpeting, cradling tired feet as soon as you enter. When night falls, ensconce yourself in the most heavenly pillows found on the custom-made king-size bed. The suites are designed with romantic getaways in mind. Our favourite features? An wood-burning fireplace done in an old-world masonry style. And of course the private balconies and large terraces with screened French patio doors that open for fresh air. The spacious bathroom is equipped with heated marble floor and a deep sunken therapeutic spa bathtub. You'll also find a separate rain shower, luxurious bathrobes and AVEDA amenities.

In a Deluxe Suite, 1050 square feet greet you with a level of sophistication appreciated by well-traveled guests. French doors enclose the large bedroom, enabling you to maintain your privacy should you wish to entertain in the well-appointed living room or dining area.
Enjoy a roaring fire while basking in the plush king-size bed. Admire a bold and brazen sunset from your private terrace overlooking the lake.

And should Tremblant ever land a major international summit, Hotel Quintessence is the only hotel in the region with enough privacy and hospitality industry clout to host Secretary of State Hilary Clinton or perhaps President Obama himself. The utmost in elegance, the Presidential Suite is an impressive 1200 square feet, welcome you with an understated stone walkway leading into a luxurious living room. The dining area is ideal for hosting a healthy breakfast before heading out to explore. The suite’s 3 wood-burning fireplaces ensure that you are surrounded by warmth wherever you may be. A secluded terrace of approximately 750 square feet allows you to soak in your private hot tub among the treetops while providing a breathtaking 180-degree view of the lake and the mountain. These suites feature cathedral ceilings with massive wood beams, the rich textiles found throughout the suites, and the smell of the pine trees surrounding a private terrace create myriad sensations for the senses.

Quintessence is the only hotel in Tremblant that can cater to the top-echelon of leisure travelers and business incentive groups. The hotel is uniquely positioned to receive seaplanes at a private dock. Guests that land their private aircraft at Mont Tremblant International Airport are greeted with champagne.

Hotel Quintessence is located just 130 km northwest of Montreal. It is easily accessible year-round by car, limousine or bus. Private or chartered planes can also fly in to the Mont-Tremblant International airport, only 25 minutes from Mont-Tremblant. The seamless check-in leads you from our front door directly to your suite.
