Well, This Is Unexpected . . .

altSarah Jessica Parker has been busy producing more than just footage for the Sex and The City sequel.

Instead of splitting ways as has been rumored -- and denied -- for months, the actress and hubster Matthew Broderick are expecting twin daughters via a surrogate mother.

Yes, because babies are the Band-Aids of relationships.

"Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate," the actors' publicists said in a statement.

A source reports that the already proud parents had been trying unsuccessfully to expand their brood for some time.

Jennifer Lopez is so not going to be pleased that her fake artificial insemination movie is being upstaged by real-life Baster babies.

"At a certain point, they were presented with an alternative," the source says. "They could have kept trying on their own, but they've always wanted to have more children and felt this was the best way to go."

Huh, maybe Mattie was just looking for a viable surrogate when he was allegedly caught cheating last year. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Can you imagine the twins' closet?  Suri Cruise, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, Harlow Madden and the rest of the celebuspawns are going to have some serious competition in the "best dressed" baby department.

Playing dress-up at the SJP/Brodderick house is going to be amazing:  "I want the Jason Wu dress,"  "Violet, those Alexander McQueen totally pants makes you look hippy,"  "I can't possibly be seen on the playground in last season's fashions . . ."
