A Woman on the Fence No Longer
At the age of 24, still living at home, Erica started a successful business out of her parent’s basement. Selling corporate gifts and promotional products to corporations, she had saved up enough money as a marketing manager at a large corporation to pursue her dream of becoming an entrepreneur. In fact, it took a rejection letter from McGill MBA to push her towards a path of entrepreneurship earlier than expected. Erica's dad’s massage table in the basement acted as the wrapping table for the thousands of Corporate Christmas gifts which were wrapped with help from her neighbours in Westmount.
However, 2.5 years ago, Erica decided to throw in the towel and give it all up. Another business award, more TV or newspaper appearances were not enough anymore. With a young son, and another on the way, she was LOSING IT! She decided she needed to sell the business. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, she was confident that it would return when she was ready. The business was quickly sold to Bentley Stores, Canada’s Largest Bag Retail Chain.
So, fast forward to Erica's new venture, WomenontheFence.com. This is the blog she had only thought about starting a few months back, but is now a reality. For all 'women on the fence' in life, in love, at work Erica promotes that it's time to "get off the fence and start living!" Not easily bored, over the past three years from her home, she has also written three children’s books and a TV show. So, with a daily blog about 8 weeks old women have become followers of Erica's from all around the world. Erica is delighted with the outpouring of support and the connection between women’s experiences. In fact, in addition to being featured prominently on WOMAN.ca, Erica has also been featured on Blogher.com and Wordpress.com.
A final note from Erica:
"And so, as I embark upon my second journey, I go with ease. I no longer have employees to manage, or meetings to attend. I work from home, or Starbucks, or a strip joint for that matter!! All I need is a wireless internet signal! And I feel incredible things will happen from my second venture. When we finally surrender, and we open our hearts, the light comes in and shows us the way." - Erica Diamond
